About
mashvara
A civic platform built for the everyday realities of our cities. Community-powered. Free forever.
Who We Are
Mashvara is a civic platform built for the everyday realities of our cities. It enables people to document problems they see around them and bring those issues into shared public view.
Through photographs, descriptions and neighbourhood tags, Mashvara transforms isolated frustrations into visible civic signals that communities can collectively acknowledge.
Why We Exist
Cities are full of problems that everyone sees but few have the means to document or escalate. Mashvara exists to make these realities visible so that communities can collectively acknowledge what needs attention.
The word means “consultation” or “advice” in Urdu — because that is what most Karachites need: clear, actionable guidance on how to get their legitimate civic problems properly addressed.
The Problem
Civic issues are often experienced individually but rarely recorded collectively. Without documentation, problems disappear into noise. Mashvara creates a unified space where these issues can be documented and grouped by neighbourhood.
Our Pillars
Voice
Every citizen has the right to highlight issues affecting their environment. Mashvara gives that right a platform.
Vigilance
When communities stay attentive to local conditions, they can keep a clearer shared record of what was observed, when it changed, and which official reference applies.
Visibility
Problems that remain unseen rarely receive attention. Mashvara transforms isolated frustrations into visible civic signals that communities can collectively acknowledge.
What we are not
Not affiliated with KMC, KW&SC, K-Electric, or any government body. Mashvara does not have any formal arrangement with civic authorities. We cannot guarantee that a complaint filed here will be resolved. What we can do is make your complaint visible, show the relevant official starting point, and publish status notes. You must still submit through the responsible authority's own channel.
We minimise personal data. Anonymous reports hide your name publicly, while signed-in reports may remain linked to your account privately. Service providers handle limited technical data as explained in our privacy notice.
