Check Conditions Before Travelling

Flooding changes by storm, drainage condition and road works. Use current PDMA Sindh, Commissioner Karachi, traffic-police and weather updates rather than relying on a permanent list of “safe” or “unsafe” roads.

Safety Rules

Before the rain:

  • Charge all devices — power goes out
  • Fill safe water containers before severe weather if official advisories recommend it
  • Stock food for 2-3 days
  • Move vehicles to higher ground if possible
  • Clear your house drains and gutters

During flooding:

  • Do not drive into standing or moving water when you cannot judge its depth, road surface or current
  • Do not walk through flood water because open drains, debris and electrical hazards may be hidden
  • Stay away from electric poles — electrocution through flood water is a real risk
  • Move to upper floors if water enters your home

After the rain:

  • Follow current KW&SC and public-health advice if water quality may have been affected
  • Watch for snakes — flooding drives them into populated areas
  • Report blocked drains that caused flooding
