FIR (First Information Report) Process

Step 1: Go to the police station in your area. Each area falls under a specific SHO (Station House Officer). You can find yours at sindhpolice.gov.pk.

Step 2: Request to file an FIR. Be specific:

  • What happened (snatching, break-in, assault)
  • When and where (date, time, exact location)
  • Description of suspects if any
  • Value of stolen items

Step 3: If your report is not registered, keep an accurate escalation record:

  • Record the station, date, time and officer details you are given
  • Use Sindh Police's official complaint-management channel or contact the district supervisory office
  • Contact CPLC at 1102 for crime-reporting guidance; seek a qualified lawyer for case-specific legal advice

Step 4: Ask for the FIR or complaint reference and any copy you are entitled to receive. Keep it private and safe. Seek a qualified lawyer for case-specific legal advice.

CPLC Support

The Citizens Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) lists 1102 and an official online complaint form:

  • They maintain databases of stolen vehicles and phones
  • They coordinate with police stations across districts
  • For phone snatching: call CPLC with your IMEI number (dial *#06# on any phone to find it — save this number NOW)

Safety Tips for Karachi

  • Save your IMEI number before you need it
  • Don't resist during a snatching — phones are replaceable, you are not
  • Install a tracking app on your phone
  • Avoid using a phone where doing so makes you less aware of your surroundings
  • Choose well-lit routes and tell someone you trust when travelling through an unfamiliar area
